Power over UTP with Ethernet extension solution from OTS

Ethernet UTP extender from OT Systems

Etherxtra UTP extender from OT Systems allows for PoE for up to 600 metres

OT Systems introduces its Etherxtra series, an Ethernet over UTP extender series, with two new models-- the ET1100UPp and ET1100U-- designed to offer system integrators the flexibility of connecting IP devices over Cat.5e cable for longer monitoring distances.

The ET1100UPp-R (Receiver) supplies power to the ET1100UPp-T (Transmitter) via the UTP cable by power-over-wire (PoW), then in turn the transmitter supplies power to its connected IP devices via Power over Ethernet (PoE). With the UTP extender products, system integrators can install IP cameras or other IP devices on a Cat.5e cable up to 600m from the central monitoring station without needing an additional power point at the remote end. In addition, the ET1100UPp-R can obtain the power from a PoE switch; working together, a system integrator can easily construct and monitor a centralised power IP CCTV System.

This UTP extender series extends the Ethernet transmission distance (up to 600 metres) by breaking the 100-metre Ethernet limit, enabling a simple system configuration and easy installation.

The models in the Etherxtra series are designed without the requirement for a power point at the remote end and offer simple and low cost installation with Cat.5e cable deployment. Utilising a centralised power system, this feature makes the Etherxtra series switches an efficient solution for better control and monitoring of IP surveillance devices within a system.
