PCI Express video capture card

Taipei, Taiwan

Lanner Electronics announces the release of a new PCI Express video capture card capable of simultaneously processing 16 channels of full D1 resolution video and converting it into H.264 AVC video streams for delivery over a network. The Lanner VC-8016 card supports 16 channel audio and 16 channel audio inputs, enabling the construction of a scalable digital video surveillance system with higher resolution and lower bandwidth.

The VC-8016 takes advantage of the latest H.264 Advanced Video Coding for image compression. The H.264 standard (also known as MPEG-4 part 10) provides high quality video streams with reduced bandwidth, which is especially important for network video applications with multiple video streams. The VC-8016 enables 16 channel NTSC or PAL analog signal input via a 16 BNC to one DVI cable, along with 16 channel audio synchronization. The PCI-E interface enables simple installation and flexibility for development of total network video solutions on x86 platforms.

Full D1 video resolution is made possible by taking advantage of the H.264 codec, enabling capture of 30 frames per second NTSC or 25 frames per second PAL standard video.

"Lanner provides value to our customers by delivering advanced platform service and long term technical support for our partners' turn-key solution development," said Tim Chen, senior vice president of video communications. "By working with Lanner, partners are able to build advanced video solutions based on the VC-8016 for a wide range of applications, such as public security, transportation systems, remote healthcare, digital learning, casino security and environment monitoring," he said.

The VC-8016 is available immediately, and comes bundled with a comprehensive software development kit and free bundled application software, EyeShot 2000, for SI and ISV partners to evaluate.
