ONSSI debuts Ocularis 5.1

Toronto, Canada

Designed to provide customers with an intelligent and cost-effective platform to simplify workloads and system management, Ocularis 5 video management software (VMS) from ONSSI has made its debut at Security Canada Central Conference and Expo presented by the Canadian Security Association (CANASA) at the Toronto Congress Centre.

The new Ocularis 5 Video Management Software (VMS) delivers a host of added features to best support customers’ requirements and system design needs. Ocularis 5 provides current Ocularis users with a comprehensive migration path that includes backward compatibility to virtually all previous versions of ONSSI’s VMS software. ONSSI will also demonstrate the benefits of their partner integrations with ConvergenceTP’s (C2P) Event Streaming Engine solution that further expand the effectiveness of Ocularis.

“Ocularis 5 brings a long list of new features to meet the needs and expectations of both new and existing users of Ocularis,” said Ken LaMarca, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, ONSSI. “With its new efficiencies including added power, strong network security and server-based motion detection, Ocularis is nothing less than a premium and powerful solution to video management – and one that only ONSSI can deliver.”

New features include server-based motion detection, giving the user the option to run motion detection on the server or the camera, allowing generic settings to be copied across multiple channels for faster installation, and stronger network security with encryption between clients and servers. Also featured in Ocularis 5, is better storage management with automatic optimisation of hard drive volumes and load balancing across multiple storage components, scrambled video database for better protection of video evidence and simpler and easier installation and licensing with no requirement to register cameras and their MAC addresses.

The new Ocularis 5 also includes better Network Address Translation (NAT) to access servers outside the Ocularis Base machine or a firewall. Ocularis 5 also continues to support the features that set it apart, such as camera NVR, critical camera Failover and redundancy and failover configurations, along with many others. In addition, Ocularis Media Servers (OMS), both transcoded and non-transcoded are included with the new release.

Ocularis 5 is offered in three models: Professional, designed for organisations operating multiple locations with small to mid-sized camera counts; Enterprise, built for a wide range of mid to large IT-centric organisations; and Ultimate, created for large organisations with extended command and control needs and recording server failover.
