Mirasys secures the Eurovision song contest
Helsinki, Finland
The Eurovision song contest, which will be televised globally to over a hundred million viewers, creates a unique security situation that requires the outmost stability and performance from the surveillance system. The security personnel have to be able to recognize dangerous situations and prevent them - preferably even before they have the occasion to occur. Video surveillance plays a critical role in this task.
As the new surveillance system has to combine extreme precision with a virtually unlimited scalability and customizability, Hartwall arena decided on implementing a solution based on Mirasys V series - the latest and most advanced video surveillance system available.
"Our most important priority is to ensure the safety of the public. The best way to accomplish this is by recognizing potential disturbances before they can occur. The clear and precise video feed helps us solve cases of potential disorder with no uncertainty, and the wide scope of video surveillance enables us to effortlessly track even mobile disturbances," comments Leo Vilkka, the director of security at Hartwall arena.
The Mirasys V series video surveillance system can consist of up to 5000 security cameras and auxiliary devices. The scalability of Mirasys' solutions enables the simultaneous use of analog and megapixel quality devices in a single surveillance system, as well as the gradual updating of surveillance systems as technology evolves.
"The Eurovision Song Contest is an exceptional event, and the seamless and trouble-free functioning of the surveillance system is extremely important. We definitely view the responsibility for providing the surveillance for the event as a matter of honor," says Kim Långström, sales director at Mirasys Ltd "Naturally, in the optimal situation, video surveillance would not have
to be utilized at all. However, if and when the need arises, the clarity and technical quality of the video feed are to everyone's benefit"
