IRISYS thermal imaging technology tracks people

The access control systems manufacturer IRISYS has a newly developed security range, which includes the IRS2100 Tailgate Detector as well as its vast collection of people counters.

Using IRISYS' high-accuracy thermal imaging people counting technology, detecting people by their body heat, the IRS 2100 Tailgate Detector offers a significant increase in security for controlled doors. It enforces the use of cards/tokens, which prevents unauthorised access and improves roll-call accuracy.
The detector provides a radical new way to detect and track people for security applications. It achieves a very high level of count accuracy with a low false alarm rate and operates irrespective of lighting conditions. The discreet ceiling mounted unit 'looks' down at the doorway to detect and count people, even when walking side by side or crossing paths in the entrance, giving it a significant advantage over infrared beam based systems and allowing its use on double doors. Handling up to five people per second makes it suitable for busier entrances, with the generation of a tailgate alarm output should someone follow a valid cardholder through the entry without presenting a valid card/token.
The unit is self contained, can interface with most access control systems and the resulting tailgate alarm output can be used to trigger an alarm, sound a local buzzer or activate a CCTV system. Its unobtrusive ceiling mounted package is designed to meet the approval of both interior designers and architects alike.
The IRISYS people counter family has been designed in a 'building block' style to allow a variety of interconnection and area coverage requirements to be met, as well as providing a link to a range of user and host systems.
