IP access control from Genetec

Saint-Laurent, Canada

Genetec releases the latest version of Synergis, its IP access control solution. The solution now broadens its access control capabilities with the release of features such as the Synergis Software Development Kit (SDK) for third-party system integrations such as human resource management systems (HRMS), time and attendance systems, fire and intrusion detection panels, etc. Additionally, Synergis now offers support for badge design, custom report design, elevator control and floor tracking, incident reports, and a host of other features.

"Synergis is an enterprise-class IP access control solution designed with an innovative and unique architecture that revolutionizes how organizations secure their facilities," mentions Jimmy Palatsoukas, product manager at Genetec.

As an integral member of Genetec's suite of IP security solutions, Synergis' Unified Security Interface seamlessly integrates access control, video surveillance, visitor management, badging, reporting, and more.

Synergis currently supports a wide variety of hardware door controllers, including one-reader IP controllers, two-reader IP controllers, as well as traditional RS485 based controllers and interface modules. With the release of this latest version, Synergis further expands its existing integration, taking IP access control to the next level, by supporting the VertX and Edge product lines from HID Global. With the HID EdgeReaderTM, a power-over-Ethernet (PoE) enabled device, Genetec is able to provide IP connectivity to the door through a single CAT-5 cable. This allows users to leverage the benefits of both IP and PoE technology, reduce installation costs and increase operational efficiency.
