Addressing an increasing need for automated control and monitoring of traffic on highways throughout Europe, Intellio developed two new detectors that enable transportation authorities to ensure that traffic rules are adhered to and traffic levels do not surpass maximum levels. Intelligent traffic behavior detectors built into the camera have the added benefit over current solutions of sending only relevant data to highway monitoring systems, thereby reducing network traffic and data storage needs.

"Traffic monitoring applications reap the most benefits off on board intelligence. Large numbers of cameras are required to efficiently monitor traffic, yet the operators can only monitor a handful of pictures. On-board detectors enable the system to monitor traffic densities, speed levels, traffic violations and traffic obstacles alerting the operator only when a critical event is taking place. The minimal server numbers and reduced bandwidth requirements increase reliability and lower the TCO of such systems compared to conventional monitoring tools. On board intelligence is not a luxury, it's a necessity" explains Adorjan Princz, CEO of Intellio.

With the two new detectors, along with detectors currently installed in Intellio's intelligent cameras (e.g. parking violation detection, traffic direction violation), Intellio offers a complete Traffic Control suite of security event detectors to its clients and partners.
