Innovation of Auto Elec. Load Identification System from Taiwan

Taipei, Taiwan

St. John's University, one of the allied institutes of The Northern Regional Industry-University Cooperation Center in Taipei, Taiwan, has launched its latest R&D innovation of Auto Electricity Load Identification Systems to efficient power in use, and prevent electric misuse and overload from hazard damages.

The development is a Smart Meter that designed for the existing power socket and system. When a load (electric equipment) is connected to the socket, the Smart Meter will real-time sense the values of voltage, current, effective power and power consumption of the apparatus. The captured parameter data will be transmitted through the wireless communication module to an intelligent processing platform.

The platform effectively process and analyze the received data; if an overload status is sensed and defined, the platform will notify the Smart Meter to automatically cut off the power to the connected apparatus and display the status to notify users.

The innovation is designed to effectively protect electric appliances in use at home and/or commercial areas to prevent from hazard damage on devices or causing further casualties. It is able to be applied in products or systems made for the applications of Smart Home, Intelligent Manufacturing, Modern Commercial Spots, and Educational institutes/Campuses…etc.
