Head of Swedish NBI to keynote at ASIS Europe

Klas Friberg, Head of the National Bureau of Investigation of the Swedish Police (Rikskriminalpolisen), will be the opening keynote speaker at ASIS Europe 2013 starting tomorrow.
During his keynote presentation, Mr. Friberg will discuss measures aimed at combating organised crime in Sweden. Mr. Friberg said: "One factor of success, when we combat serious organised crime, is to have a closer cooperation between the police, authorities, municipalities, commercial and industrial life. Therefore, I am looking forward to the conference and the discussion that will take place on this occasion."

Mr. Friberg specialised in the area of criminal law as a Junior Judge of a District Court in 1987 and as a Clerk for a law firm in 1990. He then has worked for Interpol in 1994 as the Executive Assistant of the President. In 1996, Mr. Friberg joined the police as Deputy Commissioner Regional Authority, and held this position until 2010. Since 2010, Mr. Friberg has been Head of the National Bureau of Investigation of the Swedish Police (Rikskriminalpolisen) which is responsible for the fight against organised crime and of international cooperation. On 21 March 2013, Mr. Friberg was appointed Head of the County of Västra Götaland Police Department and will take up his new position as from 1 May 2013.

The ASIS 12th European Security Conference & Exhibition will take place on 14-16 April 2013 in Gothenburg, Sweden. It will cover a wide range of security issues in 33 high-level educational sessions divided over 3 parallel tracks.

The conference will also feature three keynote presentations, dedicated sessions for Chief Security Officers (CSOs) and their deputies organised by the CSO Roundtable of ASIS International. Thi time there will also be an enlarged exhibition featuring the latest in security technology and services, and numerous networking opportunities at the President’s Reception, lunches and
networking breaks.
