HD minidome

Runcorn, UK

Honeywell announces the latest addition to its EQUIP family of IP products and the first in a series of high definition cameras. The new HD3MDIPX indoor mini-dome provides 720p images at extremely low bandwidth for significantly reduced storage requirements-even in low light, according to the manufacturer.

The HD3MDIPX is the latest addition to Honeywell's expanded IP portfolio of high definition (HD) cameras that allows end users to integrate a broad range of digital technology into their analogue systems. The HD mini-dome provides extremely high picture quality at the cost of traditional analogue cameras. It features an externally accessible web-based menu to let operators view and control cameras from virtually anywhere, and camera tamper detection alerts users instantly if a camera has been obstructed or vandalised.

"When it comes to new security installations, IP-based systems are growing in prevalence as viable options alongside traditional analogue-based approaches," said Vineet Nargolwala, general manager EMEA, Honeywell Systems Group. "IP migration is not a matter of if - it's a matter of when. And as this happens and the price of IP falls, the capabilities and benefits of IP will continue to grow. In light of this, beginning a migration to IP-based systems is a necessary way to future-proof an organisation and prepare for the day when IP will be the dominant form of video."

The company's IP offering includes a powerful video management platform, MAXPRO VMS, and a complete selection of recording solutions. Open architecture lets users easily transition digital technology into existing analogue systems and provides users the flexibility they need to control costs and maximise their investment in existing equipment. The HD portfolio of cameras will soon expand to include an outdoor mini-dome, a bullet camera and box camera options.
