Geovision launches PoE extender for IP surveillance

Taipei, Taiwan

Geovision, an IP surveillance solution provider, is launching a PoE extender for IP surveillance that will increase the distance between a PoE switch and the IP cameras.

Nowadays PoE has become a popular technology in the security industry. It conveniently provides power along with data to IP devices without the cost of direct electrical wiring. Geovision has worked on the product to make IP surveillance over longer distances a possibility.

Generally, the maximum distance between PoE switch and camera is limited to 100 metres (328ft). GV-PoEX0100, PoE extender by Geovision helps in overcoming the distance restriction. No additional power supply is needed. GV-PoEX0100 is a single port 10/10 PoE extender. When installed it increases the coverage of distance by 100 metres (328ft). The distance between PoE switch and GV-IP cameras is increased with each additional extender installation. Five extenders can be serially connected to transmit power and data to a GV-IP camera located as far as 600 metres (1,968.5ft) away from the PoE switch. The PoE extender supports all GV-IP cameras when installed with a power adapter. The extender is also compatible with third-party switches that comply to PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at).

Geovision designs video surveillance solutions with management software and hardware including megapixel IP cameras. It has a wide range of security accessories that help security professional to deliver customised services to clients.
