Euralarm builds closer cooperation with ISO

Zug, Switzerland

Euralarm has been granted a bilateral liaison status Type A by ISO. Due to this liaison, it is thought that European standards will become closer to international standards.
For many years, Euralarm has enjoyed an observer status on various Technical Committees of the European standards bodies, such as CEN and CENELEC to represent the European Fire safety and Security industry.  These organisations are major providers of European Standards and technical specifications and aim to remove trade barriers for industry and consumers.

The European standards are now becoming more connected to the international standards in terms of ISO and IEC as the Vienna and the Dresden agreements are now offering many opportunities. ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is the world’s largest developer of voluntary International Standards. International Standards are designed to give state of the art specifications for products, services and good practice, helping to make industry more efficient and effective. Developed through global consensus, they help to break down barriers to international trade.

For all these reasons the European industry has now elected to also be represented in the international standards process. According to the organisation, Euralarm is pleased that ISO has granted Euralarm the bilateral liaison status Type A.
