Dahua video records heroic moment

Hangzhou, China

The Hang Zhou Long-distance Transport Group Co., Ltd. installed Dahua's DSS (digital surveillance system) at their buses for public service.
In early-June 2012, a bus driver, Wu Bin, was hit in his arms and abdomen by a flying piece of metal (from the lorry passing by in the opposite lane) smashing through the windshield while driving at the Yangshan section of the Wuxi-Yixing highway, China. Dahua's mobile surveillance solution has recorded the entire incident of what happened with crystal clear images for post event proceedings.

From the Dahua mobile surveillance video, the event was revealed from its quality images reproduced from the recorded log of a 1'16"video fraction. Despite the tremendous pain suffered by the bus driver, Wu still put passengers’ lives as priority and managed to professionally complete a sequence of moves with the bus —slowing down, turning on warning lights, pulling on the handbrake and advising passengers to stay calm and wait for help.

The crucial measure taken by the driver Wu Bin resulted in saving all passengers (24 lives) on the bus from this so called "accident from nowhere", yet tragically, the bus driver Wu sacrificed his own life. He died of a ruptured liver four days after the accident.

Using the video for post-event research, it was found that Wu was hit by the flying metal debris weighing 160 kg at the speed of no less than 150 miles per hour. Doctors in the operating room at the hospital were astonished at how he could keep driving for such a long distance after the injury that actually caused Wu’s liver to be completely sliced.

In this instance, Dahua's onboard video surveillance discovered that the hero Wu rescued 24 lives on the bus due to his strong sense of responsibility and professional ethics whilst disregarding his own risk.

The Dahua DSS (digital surveillance system) for vehicle applications employs a GPS Module. The built-in GPS module helps to pin the exact position of vehicles, and control room personnel can therefore have a clear overall picture of the on-site events, thereby quickening the response time to better ensure the safety of personnel on the move. The Wifi and 3G is interchangeable according to the network environment at the time, and the RJ45 Ethernet port (10M/100M) allows for more convenient video transmission when the vehicle drives into a station or somewhere analogue. In addition, Dahua also provides robust software to support the system solution.

The Dahua DSS (digital surveillance system) is designed to provide easy management of large scale and critical application tasks with intuitive access and human-oriented operation and, aimed at making substantial contributions to road safety.
