Conway launches range of camera housings

Buckinghamshire, UK

Initially there are three models in the range, the C212, C212X and C212SS.

"The housings are produced from scratch in the UK, and through our recent investment in a laser cutting cell and CNC machining centres we're matching foreign competitors on price as well as staying flexible on customer requirements such as finish and corporate colours, something that companies who are importing simply can't do." says Chris Newman, managing director of Conway.

The housings are designed for use with CCD cameras with fixed or vari-focal lenses. They are supplied with an energy-efficient screen demister as standard and are simple to install with a sliding camera tray that gives engineers easy access for set-up and service.

The innovative C212X offers a sliding sun visor that can be adjusted to help preserve image quality where the housing is exposed to direct sunlight, an important feature at applications involving road and trackside monitoring where installers often have little choice as to position and orientation. Previous solutions for this problem have involved fixed camera peaks which allow for no adjustment, or sliding the whole visor forward which compromises aesthetics.

Completing the range is a stainless steel version, the C212SS. Conway has traditionally produced its housings in stainless steel in order to best serve the marine and food processing industries or indeed any sector where corrosion is an issue.

All of the housings have cable entry via IP66 glands on the rear. The mounting bracket which is supplied with the housings is designed to straddle the conduit, allowing installation engineers to work rapidly and in a tidy manner. Installers will also appreciate that the mounting bracket allows the camera to look up, a common need at tunnels and underpasses.

As with all products in the Conway range the new housings can be supplied in colours to match corporate identities or meet environmental requirements.
