City of Mont de Marsan turns to IP surveillance
Mont de Marsan, France
The 25-camera analog system was converted to IP surveillance system by SPIE through ACTi's local distribution partner, Noemis. The city requires a security system for more efficient and powerful surveillance and management. ACTi MPEG-4 based video encoders offer a suiting solution for city of Mont de Marsan where network bandwidth is limited and surveillance coverage is widely spread. ACTi's advanced compression technology allows the entire IP Video system to operate on the city's VPN with minimal impact on network bandwidth while providing an excellent video quality. With a wide range of ACTi video serveroffering, SPIE was able to provide very scalable and cost-effective solution for existing upgrade and future expansion.
Excellent Image quality with minimum bandwidth consumption and ease of use were just two of the reasons the ACTi and Milestone solution was chosen. The 25 analog cameras are installed throughout 3 units of ACTi 2ch video server, SED-2420, and 5 units of ACTi 4ch video server, ACD-2200, are used to covert analog video to MPEG-4 based video stream, each providing D1 resolution and 25 frames per second at only 1.2Mbpsbandwidth consumption. The 5 technical rooms are equipped with Milestone Xprotect Enterprise NVR software on HP PC server, connected via a VPN across the city.
Commenting on the operation of the new system, Spie Sud Ouest Gironde project manager, said of the ACTi video servers, "We are very pleased with the system and in particular with the superb image quality of ACTi video servers and their powerful video transmission capability of full transparent protocols, which greatly reduces our installation effort and time." ACTi's wide range of professional video servers, IP cameras, and IP speed domes have been commonly chosen for city surveillance purpose in France, Spain, UK, Poland and many other European countries.
