With no doubt, forest is one of the most precious resource and treasure of a country. Not only has it a vast economic value but it also has the functionality of maintaining the eco-system and ensuring conservation of water and soil. Needless to say, forest conservation is one of the urgent missions for every country.

In the need of modernizing the forest fire-proof and alarm system, nowadays, this system will be required to do real-time monitoring, manage any accidental fire alarm and deal with any other unusual incidents. However, all of these requirements are hardly to be fulfilled by a traditional CCTV surveillance system. Therefore ACTi was able to cooperate with Beijing government in establishing an all-digital, wireless IP surveillance forest fire-proof and alarm system.

Until now, 10 units of ACTi SED-2120 video server have been installed for this project. Since the forest regions are located in different areas, all the IP surveillance equipments needed to be installed over high mountains. There was no way to use traditional cabling to facilitate the signal transmission. Under these conditions, the wireless transmission was the only way out. With the outstanding advantage of low bandwidth requirement, ACTi SED-2120 was the chosen device.

The ACTi SED-2120 video server provides good video quality with very low latency. D1 images running at 30 frames per second allows the user to view clear and smooth video from a remote location greater than a few kilometers away.

Another reason for Beijing Forestry Bureau to choose ACTi SED-2120T is its high performance in temperature- resistance and durability. As a governing unit, all the chosen devices should have the ability to work under hazardous environment. ACTI SED-2120 is able to operate stably in the working temperature from -30 degrees to 70 degrees.
