AMGPanogenics and Wavestore agree technology partnership

Biggleswade, Bedfordshire and London, UK

AMGpanogenics, manufacturers of the Panocam360 camera range and Wavestore, a leading provider of professional DVR, NVR, and HVR solutions, have formed a technology partnership.
The partnership reinforces Wavestore’s capability to provide open platform video recording solutions which offer customers the option of investing in the very latest camera technology, such as 360 degree cameras.

“The use of 360 degree technology can significantly reduce the number of cameras, infrastructure and security personnel needed to monitor a large area, and with no moving parts, further savings can be achieved on maintenance costs,” said Chris Williams, Director of Wavestore. “It is not surprising that they are increasingly being specified for projects where there is a need to continuously monitor activity such as in retail environments, airports and public spaces. We are, therefore, very pleased to have the opportunity to work closely with an innovative manufacturer such as AMGPanogenics to deliver to customers the benefits of a combined Panocam360 camera and Wavestore recording solution.”

AMGPanogenics manufactures a range of 360 degree cameras which can capture five megapixel images and can multi-stream them at 12.5 frames per second, utilising H.264, MJPEG and/or MPEG4 compression. There are indoor, outdoor, surface or flush mount options, with the Panocam360B, for example, provided in a vandal resistant die-cast housing. Each of the Panocam360 cameras features an on-board de-warping feature which reduces the need to process images in the control room. Offering up to 14 de-warped video streams/independent camera views simultaneously alongside the full-resolution fish-eye view, makes Panocam360 the most powerful and versatile 360 degree camera range available in the market today.

“Customers have the choice of using the Panocam360 de-warping feature or, if required, they can take advantage of the de-warping facility which we have incorporated into V5, the latest version of the Wavestore recording software,” said Chris Williams. “This will record the original fisheye images captured by a Panocam360 camera and simultaneously display the locally de-warped images created by the Wavestore software, as well as images from other network and analogue cameras, in a multi-image display. The original images captured by the 360 degree camera images are stored unaltered hence, if required, specific video data can be presented and verified in a court of law.

Dewarping locally reduces the number of simultaneous image streams from the camera and this in turn reduces the demand on the network bandwidth.
