Runway Safety is a significant challenge and a top priority in aviation. Protection agaiinst runway incursions has become a key concern at Middle Eastern airports hence the project being carried out by Airlive's partner in the region. Any incident of this nature has the potential to cause significant damage to both persons and property.

According to the International Civil Aviation Organisation, ICAO, a runway incursion can be defined as: Any occurrence at an aerodrome involving the incorrect presence of an aircraft, vehicle or person on the protected area of a surface designated for the landing and take-off of aircraft.

As one might imagine there are several challenges involved for this project.  There is the requirement to identify complex intrusion with three varied levels of alert.  Whilst multiple intrusions may occur concurrently, normally even with multiple detection areas set up and ready, only one single alert would be triggered and received.

The second top priority requirement is to facilitate incident investigation and identification; whereby any intrusion by unauthorised personnel, vehicles, and moving objects within the restricted area should be identified with location alerts and timely incident investigation initiation both during the day and at night.

In order to fulfill the client’s needs, the Airlive BC-5010 camera along with the Core NVR16 with advanced functions were chosen to provide 3 varied-settings simultaneous alerts when someone, or a vehicle, or object enter the restricted area. In addition, Airlive's SD-2020 camera facilitates incident investigations and identification with high-quality HDTV video images.
