Airlive IP secures hotel in Chile

Santiago, Chile

After the job was completed and the system tested, the video surveillance system widely responded to the expectations of the management of the building.

The KSA Your Apartment building located in the city of Santiago de Chile, a hotel and apartment lease, has installed a surveillance and monitoring system based on Airlive cameras and equipment backed by a major network infrastructure. The hotel area ranges from the 1st floor to floor 7 and the remaining floors will be used to lease apartments to private individuals for residential purposes.

According to the requirements placed by the project managers, the surveillance system has to be visible and sufficient at all corridors on every floor of the building,  in resolution of 1-megapixel (at least) with minimum vision range up to 15 metres, and equipped with centralised recording that functionally supports pre-event logs, triggered by changes of light, movements,...etc.  The event recording is required to cover the interval of a few seconds before and after an event is occurred.  The cameras that to be used in the system also had to have the ability to allow people in the building to be traceable by the system.

The integrator, Evolution Ingeniería Limitada, recommended the implementation of an IP video surveillance system composed of 52 security cameras to monitor the corridors. There are three types of Airlive IP cameras used in the system;  23 units FE-200VD (360 degrees fisheye IP dome camera with segmentation capabilities) and 23 units of DM-720 have been installed in the corridors of the 1st to 23rd floors, while another 6 cameras of BU-720 are installed in the basement on the 1st  to 3rd floors of the hotel building.  In order to supply power PoE (Power Over Ethernet) to cameras, there are 11 units of POE-FSH808AT switches also installed. To meet the recording function requirements, the system is composed of 4 units of the Airlive NVR-16, with 3 Tb disks 3 and 4 monitors each LED full HD, installed and configured with all cameras for a continuous recording capacity exceeding 30 days.

After the job was completed and the system tested, the video surveillance system widely responded to the expectations of the management of the building, integrating seamlessly with wired network infrastructure (Cat.6) to all floors. This was also designed to support internet telephony, wireless and IP television services.

The most important point is the interconnection between floors and the equipment room, located on the 1st underground floor, which was fitted with ring-fibre links, in order to deliver a high back up to services. Besides a power system with UPS distributed between floors, the system, considered a one rack cabinet on each floor from 1st to 23rd floors of the building, to ensure continuity for more than an hour if main power failure occurs or upon blackout.
