ACTi supplies megapixel cameras to park in Singapore

Taipei, Taiwan

HortPark is a one-stop gardening hub that brings together gardening-related, recreational, educational, research and retail activities under one big canopy in a park setting. It is a knowledge hub for plants and gardening and provides the platform for the industry to share best practices and showcase garden designs, products and services. This 23-hectare regional park in South-Western Singapore is also a park connector, connecting Telok Blangah Hill Park to Kent Ridge Park.

To protect the various assets and to improve the security of the park, National Parks Board (NParks) published a tender inviting proposal to implement a high performance wireless video surveillance system for Hortpark.

NEXTAN Pte. Ltd, ACTi's partner in Singapore, won the tender with its proposal of ACTi's latest MPEG4 Megapixel IP cameras, riding on a tried and tested WIFI wireless backbone. The total solution beat the competitors in performance, technology and cost effectiveness, according to ACTi.

Seven of the ACM-3411 Indoor Megapixel IP dome camera and four of the ACM-1231 Outdoor Megapixel IP bullet camera were installed at various locations around the park, linked by a network of seven outdoor wireless base stations, repeater and clients. The ACTi NVR Enterprise software is being used for the management, monitoring and recording functions.

The advantage of the ACTi MPEG4 Megapixel IP camera system was immediately realized: it provides crispy sharp photo quality video streaming at megapixel resolution (1280x1024) without consuming large bandwidth as in the case of most Megapixel camera systems which use MJPEG streaming. Particularly impressive is the camera's ability to capture details like vehicle license plate and human facial features, meeting the requirement of state-of-art video surveillance technology, claims ACTi.
