ACTi IP video surveillance solution protects Swedish school

Västerås, Sweden

ACTi helps Mimer Real Estate Inc. to protect S:T Ilian school in the city of Västerås in Sweden, with ACTi IP video surveillance solution.

Mimer Real Estate Inc., a real estate company fully owned by the city Of Västerås in Sweden, is developing thec city area of Petersberg together with the city of Västerås since 2003. They manage and administrate city of Västerås-owned housing and service facilities, including 12,000 apartments, schools, and day care canters. One of the projects includes also rebuilding and renovating the S:T Ilian School, which was finalized at the end of 2006.

ACTi distributor, DoNet AB, together with their partner, Protect You AB, helped to design an ACTi IP surveillance system for outdoor surveillance of S:T Ilian School facilities. Requirement was to deliver best image quality with vandal proof outdoor cameras, full D1 from all cameras at 25fps all connected to local CMS Server.

The solution is based on ACTi's NVR 2.0 software platform, 6pc ACTi CAM-7321P vandal proof dome cameras and 2pc ACTi CAM-5321 IP box cameras in outdoor housings. All cameras, deployed in the surrounding of buildings in the campus, are connected to and supplied by a 24 Port PoE (Power over Ethernet) switch, and are managed and recorded by ACTi NVR 2.0 in the local control room of the school. With the built-in streaming engine function, ACTi NVR 2.0 makes it not only possible but easy for multi-site recording, preview, and playback at any time and any place in the campus. At the same time, all ACTi camera devices also generates concurrent video streams to the city control canter via Västerås city's existing fibre WAN, where Milestone Xprotect Enterprise is installed as CMS.

"We choose the ACTi solution because of the superior image quality of ACTi IP cameras. It runs in a very low bit rate 2Mbps/cam in full D1 25fps from all cameras, and all is recorded in local ACTi NVR 2.0, a free-of-charge software for up to 16 cameras which makes ACTi solution economically superior compared with any other competitors' system which was evaluated in this process" says Daniel Johansen, project manager, Protect You AB.
