Marcia enables organisations using Milestone Xprotect to extend video retention beyond traditional primary-storage limits while continuing to use Xprotect exactly as they do today.

Marcia continuously replicates newly recorded video in the background to LTO-based long-term storage —typically within a couple of minutes of the original write— providing Xprotect customers with what Cozaint believes is the lowest-cost architecture available for video surveillance retention.

For enterprise security environments, video retention has historically been constrained by the economics of disk-only storage. As camera counts, resolutions, frame rates, compliance requirements, legal exposure, and AI analytics use cases continue to expand, organisations increasingly need an architecture that preserves video beyond the standard 30-, 60-, or 90-day overwrite cycle.

Cozaint’s Marcia platform addresses that challenge by providing Intelligent Video Lifecycle Management (IVLM)for enterprise surveillance environments.

Marcia is designed to operate behind the scenes within the customer’s existing surveillance architecture. The VMS remains the day-to-day operational platform for live viewing, recording, user management, alarms, investigations, and security workflows.

Marcia extends the long-term value of the video managed by the VMS by enabling organisations to preserve video beyond normal retention windows and retrieve it when needed.

Importantly, Marcia does not interrupt Xprotect’s normal recording workflow. Cameras continue recording into the customer’s existing Xprotect primary storage environment. In near real time Marcia operates in the background to replicate and organise newly recorded video onto LTO-based storage. This process occurs without interrupting ongoing Xprotect recording.

Security operators continue using Xprotect normally for live monitoring, playback, alarms, and investigations, while Marcia continuously builds the long-term retention copy behind the scenes.

For Milestone Xprotect environments, Marcia supports long-term video retention workflows including automated tiered-storage management, LTO-based preservation, camera/date/time-based retrieval, metadata-aware recall, and restoration of historical video back into the Xprotect workflow. The objective is simple: Xprotect continues operating as Xprotect, while Marcia extends how long the organisation can preserve and retrieve the video Xprotect records.

As AI and video analytics become increasingly important to physical security and business operations, historical video is becoming more valuable. However, AI cannot analyse video that has already been deleted. Marcia helps organisations preserve the long-term visual history required for future analysis, pattern discovery, incident review, and business intelligence.
