Humo National Payment System and Idemia Secure Transactions (IST), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Courbevoie, France, to jointly build HUMO's Unified Tokenization System on IST Token Platform. The partnership marks a new stage in the development of Uzbekistan's digital payment infrastructure and lays the technological groundwork for the country's next generation of payments.

The Memorandum sets out the parties’ intent to jointly advance payment technologies that meet international standards. Under the partnership, HUMO and IDEMIA Secure Transactions, a global leader in payment, connectivity and cybersecurity solutions, plan to work together on building HUMO’s Unified Tokenization System, which will underpin the development of digital payment services and further integration with the international payment ecosystem.

The project will allow Humo to build its own scalable digital infrastructure in line with the international EMVCo standard and current digital payment security requirements. The platform will become the technological foundation for new digital services, card tokenisation, integration with international digital wallets, and the further expansion of Humo card usage across the digital payment ecosystem.

The Unified Tokenization System will open up new possibilities for millions of Humo cardholders. The project will lay the technological groundwork for using international digital wallets and modern contactless payment methods via smartphones, smartwatches, and other digital devices — both within Uzbekistan and beyond its borders.

"Digital payments are one of Humo’s key strategic priorities. Our partnership with Idemia Secure Transactions brings together international expertise and technology to build a unified platform that will underpin the next stage of payment services. We are steadily rolling out solutions that meet international standards, expanding what’s possible for banks, partners, and the millions of people who hold a Humo card," says Dinar Samigullin, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board at NIPC Humo.

Expanding Uzbek digital payment landscape

IST Token Platform is designed to support payment systems and banks as they roll out modern digital payment services. The solution enables the issuance and management of digital payment tokens and supports interaction across the digital payment ecosystem, including mobile NFC payments, in-app payments, and online payments.

"We are honored to partner with Humo on this major milestone. Together, we are enabling the digitization of payment cards to deliver the secure, reliable, and seamless payment experiences that consumers in Uzbekistan increasingly expect. This project reflects IST’s commitment to advancing digital payments and supporting the long-term digital transformation of regional and local financial ecosystems," adds Anastasia Serikova, Executive Vice President, Digital Payment Solutions, Idemia Secure Transactions.

Building the Unified Tokenization System is a key milestone in Humo’s long-term strategy to develop a modern digital payment infrastructure. The project will expand the capabilities of the national payment system, accelerate the rollout of new digital services, and lay the technological groundwork for further integration with the international payment ecosystem.
