German Doner Kebab is an international restaurant chain with locations across Europe, North America, and the Middle East. In the United Kingdom, the brand operates a large network of restaurants serving customers in city centres, retail destinations, and transport hubs.
The challenge was to implement a unified ecosystem to manage fire safety, intrusion protection, and video surveillance across a multi-site restaurant chain Each restaurant required a solution that would include fire safety, intrusion protection, and video surveillance. At the same time, fire safety measures had to be integrated with each facility's essential infrastructure, such as fire suppression systems. The client needed a unified ecosystem to bring fire safety, intrusion protection, and video surveillance together across all locations
To meet the client's requirements for centralised management and integrated protection, Squire Alarms built the solution around the Ajax EN54 Line. The project initially covered 14 restaurants across the United Kingdom. Following the successful deployment, the client approved a phased rollout plan for additional locations, with Ajax set to become the standard for future restaurant openings.
EN54 Fire Hub Jeweller, a touchscreen fire alarm control panel, anchors each installation. Beyond fire safety, the control panel also supports intrusion protection and video surveillance devices. As a result, the entire security infrastructure was deployed via a single hub at each location.
Staff at each location interact with the system using Keypad Touchscreen Jeweller. Through the touchscreen interface, restaurant employees manage security modes via personal access devices or codes, check system status, and view key information about system events.
For fire safety, each restaurant was equipped with EN54 Fireprotect Jeweller point smoke and heat detectors with built-in sounders, as well as Manualcallpoint (Red) Jeweller devices to manually trigger alarms. EN54 Fireprotect (Sounder/VAD) Jeweller devices deliver audible and visual alarms, enabling visitors and staff to evacuate quickly in case of danger. Through EN54 I/O Module Jeweller, Ajax was integrated with sprinkler, fire suppression, smoke extraction, and music cut-off systems. This setup ensures a coordinated emergency response to further protect people on site.
To protect restaurants against intrusion outside business hours, each location was equipped with Superior Doorprotect Jeweller and Superior Motioncam (PhOD) Jeweller detectors. When motion is detected, the client receives visual verification in the Ajax app along with the alarm, helping them quickly assess the situation. Superior Streetsiren Plus Jeweller was also installed to provide a loud on-site deterrent and immediately draw attention to system events.
Video surveillance was built around Ajax NVR (16-ch). Turretcam security cameras were installed across each site, providing coverage from every angle of the restaurant. The cameras fit naturally into the restaurant's interior, preserving the brand's visual identity.
All restaurants are linked to the client's account and available in the Ajax app. With a single app, they can view fire and intrusion events, access video streams, and stay informed about the status of every location in real time.
