Securitas climate targets validated by SBTi

Stockholm, Sweden

Securitas has declared itself to be the first global security solutions company to be validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The company has undertaken a comprehensive approach, engaging its entire value chain, including clients and suppliers, in a collective effort to address climate change. Despite being a small emitter, Securitas recognises the importance of taking full responsibility for its environmental impact.

"Actions speak louder than words”, says Magnus Ahlqvist, President and CEO of Securitas. "The Securitas way is not to be bystanders; we are taking our share of the responsibility. Our ambitious target reflects our commitment to creating a world that is both secure and sustainable. Security and sustainability walk hand-in-hand, and this validation by SBTi is a testament to our industry leadership."

Securitas commits to reduce absolute scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas emissions with by 42% by 2030 from a 2022 base year. This ambitious target aligns with the 1.5-degree goal set by the Paris Agreement and endorsed by the Science Based Target initiative.

“We are not just committed to protecting people, property and assets”, says Sune Chabert Larsen, Chief Ethics and Sustainability Officer. “We are equally dedicated to ensuring the future sustainability of our planet. With over a decade of consistently reporting emissions to CDP and being a proud signatory of the UN Global Compact in 2015, Securitas now solidifies its position as an industry leader prioritizing environmental responsibility.”

With its significant scale and capability in technology, Securitas has an important responsibility to drive more sustainable security solutions together with our technology providers, as well as internally. The company is actively involving all functions to create actionable roadmaps, fostering collaboration across the organisation for a collective effort to support the crucial 1.5°C target, to help make the world a safer place.
