When the costs of vandalism at Sjöängsskolan, a school in Askersund Sweden, almost doubled, the municipality decided to invest in intelligent camera surveillance. The assignment went to the security company Safeteam, which after its establishment in Linköping last year is expanding rapidly in central Sweden with tailor-made security solutions for school environments.

"Safeteam submitted the most competitive offer and showed the greatest expertise and experience in camera surveillance in the school world," says the Children and Education Committee in Askersund Municipality in its decision basis.

During the first half of 2024, Sjöängsskolan was hit by vandalism costs of SEK 204,375 – a dramatic increase that almost corresponds to the entire previous year's costs of SEK 256,749. The new camera solution, which includes twelve strategically placed cameras, is a direct response to this development.

"Modern schools need intelligent camera surveillance that balances effective protection with respect for personal privacy. Our specialist expertise in school environments means that we can deliver solutions that are both cost-effective and easy to scale up when needed," explains Erik Lindgren, Regional Manager Mitt at Safeteam.

Safeteam's solution combines affordable cameras from Hanwha with the intelligent surveillance system Milestone Xprotect, a cost-effective combination adapted to the special requirements of the school environment. What is unique about the solution is how it combines high-tech monitoring with careful consideration for the privacy of students and staff.

"Crucial to the success of the project is our in-depth customer dialogue, where one of our camera experts Johan Fors in particular has contributed with a deep understanding of the school's needs. It shows how important it is to really familiarise yourself with the school's specific challenges in order to create an optimal security solution," says Erik Lindgren.

On 2 December, Safeteam began the installation work at Sjöängsskolan. The nationwide security company, with over half a century of experience and established offices in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö, is now expanding in Östergötland and the areas around Örebro and Jönköping. With solid experience of, among other things, school projects from other parts of the country, Safeteam is now strengthening its presence in the region through the newly opened office in Linköping.
