Show within a show provides launching platform for IDL at Ifsec

London, UK

The Borders & Infrastructure Expo is a new event within Ifsec International, directly focusing on products, solutions and learning for large-scale security issues such as border control, critical national infrastructure, law enforcement, transport and the protection of key strategic assets. This ‘show within a show’ was aimed at bringing together major purchasers, policy makers, and influencers in large scale security, from the UK and around the world.

The main driver behind the introduction of Borders & Infrastructure is a realisation that now a significant section of the visitors at Ifsec represent major vertical sector end users, with specific interests, projects and requirements. These sectors include the safeguarding and protection of transport, utilities, national infrastructure, border and immigration control, central & local government and law enforcement. Areas which keep the country functioning and in constant need of state of the art security systems and protection measures, all managed with an unrelenting focus.

The Fastlane Turnstiles and an extensive range of Fastlane Speedgates were demonstrated alongside some new offerings including Fastlane Connect Fastcam and Fastcount app solutions.

Fastcam utilises an IP camera to provide a live video stream of the security lanes connected to a Fastlane Connect control system. Rather than using icons to represent the lanes, the live video feed is used to provide a representation of the actual lane layout, entry and exit buttons are provided that may be placed on the respective lanes for visitor access control using the Fastlane Connect Ethernet interface. In addition, the application enables users to create time stamped video footage of any security breaches or events which are either automatically saved following a turnstile alarm sounding, or manually recorded if a scenario  is noticed and that is occurring before the turnstile is being accessed.

Fastcount on the other hand gathers data using the Fastlane Connect ethernet interface, providing real time population data whilst logging entry/exit counts and delivering data in a file for subsequent analysis. The application may provide population data for a number of zones where Fastlane Turnstiles are employed to define particular areas. Fastcount can be integrated with the range of Fastlane Turnstiles or Door Detective Plus with or without access control authorisation as required.  Particularly useful for buildings which have public access lobbies, with shopping areas or restaurants, and then entry controlled office spaces above.

The company was also demonstrating its latest product specifically designed for the transport sector at the show, which has aircraft boarding and border control very much in mind. It includes a boarding pass reader, passport reader and facial recognition technology – all integrated into one product.
