Security meets science at Essen

Essen, Germany

The new Research Area at the Essen Security fair next month will allow research-oriented companies and institutes to present industry innovations from the development sector for the first time.
Security Essen is being held at Messe Essen from 25 to 28 September 2012 and one of the focal points will be on future issues. The new Research Area will consist of 500 m² in hall 8, whilst at the same time, the European Commission is holding the Security Research Event in the fair's Congress Center Ost over two days (25 to 26 September).

Successful research unites stimulus from the markets with scientific findings to create innovative products. Ever more companies are taking the opportunity to combine theory and practice and therefore strengthen their future business.

Together with the VDI Technology Center, Security Essen 2012 is aimed at creating the perfect venue to present the latest research results from security and fire prevention technology: the exhibitors include reputable institutions – including the Fraunhofer Group for Defense and Security, the German Aerospace Centre as well as the Austrian Institute of Technology.

The offering is supplemented by a lounge and its own forum for specialised events. The European Commission will be presenting security projects from all over Europe.

At the same time, the European Commission is also organising the Security Research Event entitled "Security Research meets Industry: Growth, Technology, Markets". Over two days, experts will be providing information on the latest strategies of this branch of industry, for example on the issue of border security. The congress focuses on the link between industry and science – and also looks at different programmes in Europe. The Security Research Event therefore offers a platform for knowledge transfer and communications among experts at European level.
