Security Institute recognised for significant role

London, UK

An award was recently presented to the Security Institute at the Infologue.com Building the Future Award Ceremony held at the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) annual lunch at the Hilton Hotel in Park Lane, London. The award was presented to Security Institute Chairman, Emma Shaw CSyP.
The criteria for the award are outstanding individuals and organisations that have played a pivotal part in professionalising the security industry within the UK and it is bestowed upon an individual or organisation that has used the last 12 months and more to create a significant footprint.

The Security Institute was chosen as this year’s recipient for the award for a number of reasons, which include the development and management of the ground breaking Register of Chartered Security Professionals in partnership with the Worshipful Company of Security Professionals, and providing accredited and award winning Certificate and Diploma courses in security management at levels 3 and 5 respectively.

The Institute was also recognised for creating and presenting its own annual awards, such as the Wilf Knight and George Van Schalkwyk awards for academic excellence, and publishing a series of ‘Good Practice Guides’ for security practitioners.

An elated Emma Shaw CSyP commented: “This is yet more excellent recognition for the hard work carried out by the Institute and its many volunteer members and supporters; I am extremely pleased and grateful to everyone who has made this achievement possible”.

The Security Institute is a not for profit organisation established in 1999 for the benefit of individuals working in the security sector. It promotes the art and science of security management and works to drive standards, educate and spread best practice across the security sector – a sector responsible for the safety of much of the UK’s Critical National Infrastructure.
