Record year for Sony's range of network video monitoring products

Weybridge, UK

Following a year that saw the launch of its unique distributed enhanced processing architecture (DEPA) technology platform for high performance IP monitoring networks and the expansion of its growing list of independent software vendors (ISV), Sony has achieved substantial growth in its share over the past fiscal year.

"Key to our success in Europe over the last year has been our ability to deliver a truly intelligent and integrated video surveillance platform through our growing range of IPELA cameras, RSM software and open architecture solutions," says Simon Nash, European product manager, network video monitoring & CCTV, Sony Europe "We're excited that our customers now have a real choice when it comes to next generation IP-based monitoring systems that can deliver rapid, proactive and intelligent end-to-end security"

The strongest image acquisition line-up in the industry over the last 18 months, Sony has not only doubled its camera line-up but it became the first manufacturer to embed intelligent motion and intelligent object detection directly into the camera and deliver true distributed intelligent video surveillance.

"By significantly expanding our line up of IP monitoring cameras with a range of both intelligent enabled cameras and high quality non-intelligent cameras, we now have an even stronger set of solutions for many different traditional security and new monitoring applications," adds Sony's Simon Nash. "Our expansion strategy supports IMS predictions that in 2007 and 2008 there will be a massive increase in the penetration of video content analysis in network cameras and we are in a very good position to help our customers take full advantage of this opportunity"
