Pixim signs distribution agreement for China

Mountain View, California

Pixim Inc has teamed with SEED Electronic Technology in China to distribute Pixim's Orca chipset, camera reference models and Digital Pixel System (DPS) technology. In addition to selling and supporting Pixim products, SEED plans to provide a total turnkey TCP/IP security camera that incorporates Pixim DPS for customers in Greater China.

Pixim is renowned for its patented DPS technology that uses "multi-sampling" to deliver superior picture quality in both normal and wide dynamic range (WDR) scenes in any lighting conditions. Greater dynamic range significantly improves image quality and color accuracy, critical for positive subject identification in video surveillance applications.

SEED, a privately held high-tech Chinese company, is the largest DSP equipment and product supplier in China. It has built its reputation on delivering market-specific solutions and exceptional training and technical support, and it is known for its comprehensive understanding of IP cameras.

"Pixim's WDR image capture and processing competencies, coupled with SEED's experience with high-speed digital design, will create security cameras that deliver superior data for storage and information analysis - essential components to improving DVR surveillance systems," says Richard Yu, general manager of SEED Electronic Technology and president of its SEED DSP Electronics division "Pixim products will help SEED and our customers develop next-generation capabilities for security cameras, especially the digital requirements of networked cameras"

"Customers of Pixim Orca chipsets and camera reference designs will benefit from SEED's experience designing and delivering DSP boards, coupled with their excellent field application engineering (FAE) support to ensure customer success," says Alfred Chou, Pixim's sales and marketing manager for Greater China.

"There is strong growth potential in the Greater China market and demand for additional infrastructure, as the economy evolves and the authorities seek to improve homeland security," notes Daniel Meron, technology research analyst for RBC Capital Markets "The upcoming Olympics are an example of increasing needs for public security, while the sweeping Peaceful Cities initiative passed into Federal Law in January 2006, emphasizes China's long term commitment to meeting those increasing security needs"

With the addition, of SEED, Pixim now has five strong representatives across China and Taiwan. Pixim's other representatives include: BridgeHub and RTI Industries Company Ltd. in China, along with Johnmarc Industrial Corporation and Weikeng Industrial Co. Ltd. in Taiwan.
