London's top campus sites protected by SectorGuard teams

London, UK

Some of the highest profile university and campus buildings in London and the South East are being protected by security officers from SectorGuard, following the extension of a successful contract with the London Universities purchasing consortium.

The contract, which is to run through to 2008, involves more than 5,000 man-hours of security at some of the country's leading institutions, including Birkbeck College, the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and the Royal Holloway, University of London.

"SectorGuard were selected to provide a wide range of services following a very thorough tendering process," says Mike Kilner, commodity group manager of LUPC.

"Success on contracts like this usually comes down to having good people, and SectorGuard have good people. We have been particularly pleased with the input of senior managers, making sure that everything runs smoothly" Mr Kilner adds "All the SectorGuard officers have basic first aid training and on each team there is always at least one officer with higher level four-day training"

They cover a range of duties including reception, CCTV operating, car park management and patrolling.
