King crowned top employee at Ward Security awards

Maidstone, Kent

A long-serving security officer scooped the top award at the recent Ward Security Annual Employee Awards, held at Oakwood House, Maidstone.
Trevor King received his Employee of the Year award from Andrew Shephard, Assistant Director of the Approved Contractor Scheme from the Security Industry Authority in recognition of his excellent service levels.

Now in its fifth year, the Ward Security Annual Employee Awards Dinner recognises those members of staff who’ve gone the extra mile in carrying out their duties.

The bespoke security solutions provider employs around 400 people, and the Awards evening gathers together the potential winners, clients and industry representatives.

Employees invited to attend had previously won an employee of the month award for their region. This award was nominated by their client or other staff members in recognition of their high standards of service, their reliability and by having exceeded expectations with their performance.

At the dinner, the winners of the Regional Awards for each of Ward Security’s five business areas were announced, along with the winners from various different business areas. Each of the winners was presented with an engraved trophy and £250 of vouchers.

But it was Trevor King who received the top award of Employee of the Year, picking up his engraved trophy along with £1000 of vouchers.

Trevor, who has worked for Ward Security for eight years, was described by the judges “as an extremely pro-active and diligent employee”, and “an outstanding ambassador for the company”.

“Not only does he takes pride in his own appearance and is always smart and presentable, he can always be relied upon to take the same level of pride in his company equipment, including vehicle and canine.”

Special guests at the Awards included Keith Hanson, chief exhibitor of the Crown Jewels, and Victor Ubogu, former England International and Bath Rugby player who is acting as an ambassador for Ward Security for the next year.

This year’s event featured three new awards, those for Internal Dog Trials, Team of the Year, and an Award for Company Driver of the Year.

Ward Security managing director David Ward said the awards were a fitting tribute to the hard work of the company’s personnel. “Ward Security’s reputation as a provider of bespoke security solutions rests on the quality of its employees’ performances and their abilities to offer clients a consistency and quality of service that they can rely upon.

“By recognising some of these outstanding performances, we hope to build a culture within the business where our employees continually strive to be the best they can in whatever role they are working. We are already looking forward to next year’s awards and believe that the competition will be even fiercer.”
