GRD demonstrated thermal imaging in Ireland

Donabate, Dublin (Ireland)

Greenhills Rainbow Distribution, GRD, broke new ground earlier this month by being the first company in Ireland to launch commercialised thermal imaging to the Irish security trade.

In a series of packed seminars in and around Dublin GRD introduced its new range of Flir Systems thermal imaging cameras. It also demonstrated the considerable virtues of this technology in providing increased situational awareness, around the clock and in all weathers.

A key focus of GRD's business has been the off-the-shelf availability of CCTV products. The addition of Flir Systems' thermal imaging complements this activity giving GRD a technological edge and its customers a much more comprehensive security package. This technology is now being rolled out to GRD's five nationwide branches where similar launch events are being planned.

As a direct result of one of the Dublin seminars a prestigious order has already been secured by GRD. Flir Systems' thermal imaging cameras have been specified to augment an established CCTV installation in a high-security environment. "The location is sensitive and requires the tight monitoring of perimeter fencing that is surrounded by woodland," explained GRD's CEO Joe O'Connor.

"This is the perfect application for thermal imaging as it provides vivid, high-contrast images of would-be intruders hiding in the woodland during the day and at night." he continues "It can also detect them in fog, smoke, rain and snow and where lack of ambient light makes them impossible to see with the naked eye. Thermal imaging gives the security team a sixth sense"
