Cougar scares off thief from car dealership

West Midlands, UK

A car thief got more than he bargained for recently when he targeted a car dealership in the West Midlands, not knowing the premises was protected by leading security company Cougar Monitoring.
Eagle-eyed staff at Cougar’s 24 hour NSI gold standard monitoring station, which monitors security cameras 24 hours a day around the country, spotted someone at 00:14hrs dressed in dark clothing and attempting to steal the wheel from a car.

Simon Jennings, Cougar’s control room manager says: “We have a link to a tannoy system at the dealership, as we do with many of our clients. As soon as we spotted the intruder we immediately issued a tannoy warning to him to let him know he was being filmed and, not surprisingly, this startled him and he ran off leaving the tools of his trade behind.

“We sent the Police and the key holder to the site, but unfortunately they didn't catch him, however, we obviously stopped him in the process of stealing the wheel.”

Established in 1996 by two senior ex-police officers, Cougar Monitoring has grown into a premier supplier of security solutions with over 8,000 customers in the UK. It provides a "one stop shop" for security and in addition to manned guarding provides state-of-the-art monitored CCTV equipment, key holding, emergency response, and mobile patrols.
