The entry features Clantect’s Motion Detection System, which is used to detect both hidden human and animal presence in large vehicles. The Clantect system can be used in many different types of locations: Prisons and Penitentiaries, Critical Industrial and Commercial Complexes, Government and Public Buildings, Military Bases and Border Crossings; indeed in any zone or complex, where the restricted entry and exit of vehicles is required.
Clantect’s Motion Detection System goes beyond the limitations of many other technologies, such as x-ray, and equally overcomes the drawbacks (i.e. time, manpower and accuracy) of carrying out manual searches of large vehicles. The system involves the attachment of ultra sensitive sensors to the side of the vehicle, which can be done in seconds. The Clantect terminal then executes an electronic search of the vehicle at the push of a button, a process, which is fully automated, and is completed in just over a minute.
Managing Director of Clantect, Professor Steve Daley commented, “Border crossings, particularly at the major sea port and rail terminals, provide a major logistical challenge for all of the associated organisations: the border security forces, the port and transport authorities and for the ferry and rail operators. With thousands of vehicles passing through the borders each and every day, there are immense pressures in enforcing the highest level of security at the border, while managing and maintaining the traffic flow, in what are some of the busiest and most congested locations in Europe”.
Professor Daley added: “The Clantect system contributes significantly, by executing a rapid, yet highly accurate, electronic vehicle search, which enables the trucks and containers to progress through in a matter of a couple of minutes. Our Motion Detection System has to be reliable, flexible (multiple vehicles can be searched at the same time), fast, easy to operate; and of course, it must be resilient, by maintaining high accuracy 24 hours a day, 7 days a week”.
According to the company, since the recent deployment at various ports and rail terminals Clantect’s Motion Detection System has detected several thousands of clandestine individuals and groups, that would otherwise have gained illegal and potentially dangerous entry into different countries.
