CBC turn analogue coaxial cable into ethernet

UK

The surveillance systems supplier CBC (Europe) Ltd unveils its latest Coaxi.Net product, which turns any standard analogue coaxial cable into a high-speed 100baseT Ethernet connection.

Coaxi.Net is always connected in pairs, they both transmit and receive, and are attached to each end of an existing coax cable to complete an RJ45-RJ45 connection. This provides an effective straight-through network link of distances up to 250 metres for full data rate (with up to 350m at half data rate).

Coaxi.Net means that any coax cable can become a full 100baseT full duplex Ethernet connection, with the devices being fully transparent to the user's network. Installation involves connecting the coaxial cable, RJ45 cable and power to each end for the link to work. Onboard status LEDs provide visible diagnostics of the link established.

"By using a network switch at the camera end, Coaxi.Net can turn a simple analogue camera connection into a multiple IP camera connection in one easy and cost-effective move," explains CBC's Sales Manager, John Downie. "This is the simplest way of installing IP Cameras onto existing coaxial cable "
