There was a DVR system at the school already and the DVR system is planned to extend to remote cameras which are far away from the control room where no coaxial cables exist in between. So, cameras (five fixed and one PTZ) from six remote buildings were encoded by a video server each (SED-2100)and sent over the school LAN.
At the DVR site, video is decoded back to analogue by SED-3200 and then each feed was connected to a DVR input. There was no coaxial cable between the remote camera site and the DVR site. Also, from the end user's viewpoint, they can still use the DVR system to access & control the monitored footage without changing any interface. Therefore, this was the fastest and easiest way to enhance the DVR system to be more flexible while maintaining the original user interfaces.
ACTi's MPEG-4 IP products provide D1 (720x576) resolution at 30 frames per second and utilise low bandwidth and storage size. The ability to provide a transparent RS-485 tunnel within ACTi's video servers & Transcoders provides ease of integration with various analogue PTZ cameras. Overall, this solution significantly decreases the installation costs of networking and increases the flexibility for the installation of monitors, DVRs and cameras.
