Dorgard wins place at Oxford University

Brighton, East Sussex

Keble College Oxford has installed Dorgard wireless fire door retainers in a number of locations around the college buildings to legally and safely hold open fire doors and enhance access without compromising fire safety.
Wireless Dorgard enables fire doors to be legally and safely kept open as it allows the door to close when the fire alarm sounds, preventing the spread of fire and smoke. Installed onto the bottom of the fire door in under 5 minutes, Dorgard listens for a continuous fire alarm of 65dBA or higher.

Dorgard features include: Wireless unit with fail-to-safe technology; improves access throughout buildings in line with the Equality Act 2010; complies with BS EN 1155 and accepted by the Fire and Rescue Service. It is available in a variety of colours and finishes and has automatic night-time release facility; complies with BS 7273-4 category C and with adjustable sensitivity. It is also CE marked.

Keble's maintenance manager, Luigi Bruno, says, 'Dorgards have been fitted to fire doors throughout the college buildings; in our Victorian buildings through to our newest Sloane Robinson building. The Dorgards are a neat and effective solution to the problem of legally and safely holding open fire doors, they enhance access whilst protecting students and staff should the fire alarm sound. Installation proved to be very easy too, with none of the disruption normally associated with installing wired-in door closers.'
