Veteran returns to Ground Labs as COO

Austin, Tx

Ground Labs, a leading provider of data discovery solutions for privacy, security and data management, has appointed Don Kaye as chief operating officer and chief commercial officer. Kaye, returns to the organisation bringing with him over 25 years of executive leadership, sales and marketing expertise in the technology industry and he has a deep understanding and passion in the data security and data management space.

Kaye previously served as Ground Labs’ chief revenue officer from 2019 through 2021. He returns to the company from data analytics firm Exasol, where he served as chief commercial officer, had companywide profit and loss responsibility, and oversaw global sales and marketing with a specific focus on the North American, European and UK markets. Prior to Exasol and Ground Labs, Kaye has gained extensive global leadership experience within the software industry, including time at Apple and nearly 14 years in sales leadership and corporate management roles at Microsoft.

“Don’s vast knowledge and experience, combined with his proven understanding of the data privacy, data security and data management landscape, will contribute significantly to Ground Labs’ leadership team,” said Stephen Cavey, Ground Labs co-founder and chief evangelist. “His operational and revenue leadership acumen will play a critical role as we continue to grow and scale in 2023 and beyond.”

“In my career I’ve had the privilege to work with some amazing people and none more so than at Ground Labs, so I’m really excited to be able to return and continue the journey and impact we can make together in the market,” said Kaye.

Data privacy is about more than just compliance for companies — properly implemented, it can represent a significant competitive advantage. Ground Labs’ flagship product, Enterprise Recon, enables organisations of any scale to scan for more than 300 data types, identify and catalog sensitive data at the record level, and easily assign and track remediation steps. Users can also define custom data types to locate Intellectual Property, Confidential and Sensitive information across both structured and unstructured data sources in the cloud and on-premise.

“Locating and securing data has never been more important, both for organizations and for the safety of the customers and end users they must protect.” said Kaye. “As compliance requirements proliferate globally, our technology continually stands out as the fastest and most accurate solution for companies needing to inventory and remediate personally identifiable information.”
