Power over Ethernet (PoE) enabled IP cameras or other IP devices are rapidly becoming industry standard in the security market due to their simple installation and cost savings.

The PoE technology allows the IP data and power to be delivered over the same UTP cable. The IP cameras or devices do not need an additional AC power point. They can be placed in virtually any location, such as ceilings, without requiring a power-point at the location. It eliminates the need for additional and often expensive power cables and conduits, resulting in system cost savings. The PoE feature allows installers to create a centralised-power design for the surveillance system using PoE enabled IP cameras and devices.
