OT Systems new hardened managed 8-port gigabit Ethernet switches

Hong Kong, China

Indirect lightning strikes are common when the lightning current branches off, striking obstacles as it traverses its way to Earth and destroys everything in its path. Lightning strikes can cause dangerous power surges if a surveillance system is not protected. Cameras, storage systems and connection will lose function, suffer damage and loss. An embedded 6kV surge protection from OT Systems, specially designed for surveillance systems can protect against lightning risk. Each copper port can endure a 6kV surge issue and protect the equipment.

While many other Ethernet switches only offer 1kV or 2kV surge protection capability, OT Systems has now developed hardened managed 8-port gigabit Ethernet switches (IET8222MH and IET8242MH Series) with built-in 6kV lightning surge protection designed for network interfaces. The switches provide comprehensive reliability mechanisms to effectively guard Ethernet equipment from lightning damage.

The IET8222MH and IET8242MH Series have 8 copper ports with PoE or non-PoE function and 2 GbE/ SFP combo ports or 4 100/1000Base-FX SFP ports for uplink. The switches also support ERPS, VLAN, broadcast storm suppression, flow control, centralised management and configuration by Web GUI, serial console, CLI, and SNMP. In addition, the embedded “Surveillance Device Management” software is a cutting-edge solution for the operator at remote sites, providing real-time monitoring and troubleshooting. The wide temperature operating range (-40°C to 75°C) design is ideal for extreme environments.

OT Systems IET8222MH and IET8242MH Series offer effective surge protection, flexibility and reliability ideally suited for applications in large-flow, real-time outdoor environments, surveillance installations and industrial automation control like rail traffic, community, and electric power control.
