Finnish cyber security provider, Insta, has entered a landmark agreement with the Telecom Infra Project (TIP), an international telecommunications collaboration platform, to deliver managed PKI service worldwide. The agreement spans TIP’s network of over 150 member organisations, helping to further solidify Insta’s standing in the international cyber security arena.

Telecom Infra Project Inc (TIP) is a global non-profit trade association, with a diverse member community of operators, equipment manufacturers, system integrators, software houses, startups and research institutions. This global community’s collective mission is to develop, test and deploy at scale open, disaggregated, autonomous, cloud-native, AI-driven solutions, with a purpose of modernising and transforming telecommunication networks to prepare for advanced communication needs for citizens and businesses globally. TIP is governed by a set of major industry players including AT&T, Orange, Telefonica, Deutsche Telekom, MTN, Telus, Echostar, Intel, Meta and AWS.

Insta will deliver secure managed PKI Services to the TIP Community, enabling reliable identification of devices and systems across global networks.

Reliable identification forms the cornerstone of secure digital services

A flagship TIP initiative, TIP Open LAN, is driving open-source solutions in wireless local area network infrastructures. The Open LAN community has developed vendor-neutral, end-to-end Enterprise-grade solutions, empowering organisations to build and manage their Wifi and LAN switching networks free from vendor lock-in.

Insta’s Managed PKI Service is integral to the Open LAN initiative. Its digital certificates ensure devices are reliably identified, regardless of device manufacturer or network provider.

“Insta has extensive experience in delivering cyber security services globally. The fact that Insta was selected to this project among other global PKI vendors demonstrate a Finnish certificate service provider for an international development project demonstrates that our service stands up to comparison and distinguishes itself among numerous alternatives,” says Juha Luukkanen, Director, Secure Digital Identity, Insta.

“The TIP community is transforming telecom networks to be open, programmable, cloud-native, AI-driven and autonomous. Thanks to the TIP Open LAN community, the Wifi landscape is evolving rapidly. We are delighted to welcome Insta as a TIP participant, recognizing their expertise in cybersecurity and their pivotal role in advancing Open LAN technology. OpenWifi has seen exponential growth in the past 2 years, with over 400,000 TIP Open Wifi Access Points deployed worldwide across telecom, real estate, hospitality and retail sectors. Integrating Insta’s PKI Certification service into the TIP Open LAN delivery process is a significant milestone in validating and promoting secure, multi-vendor solutions to the global market,” adds Kristian Toivo, Executive Director, Telecom Infra Project.

The goal: open and vendor-independent network technology

TIP is committed to redefining network technology by developing and promoting standards based, autonomous, cloud-native, AI-driven solutions. These innovations enable hardware, devices and software from diverse vendors to work seamlessly together. Insta’s Managed PKI Service addresses a critical challenge of robust device identification in these dynamic environments.

The agreement with TIP and Insta’s membership into this global community supports Insta’s international growth strategy and opens new opportunities with global technology and device manufacturers as well as operator partners.
