New JVC NVR for IP and analogue surveillance systems

London, UK

The hybrid NVR incorporating Milestone XProtect software offers a triplex capability, advanced system features and scalable operation.

Scheduled for availability in late 2006, the intuitive VR-N900U 9-channel Network Video Recorder (NVR) from JVC is able to automatically recognise and configure itself to operate with JVC brand IP camera, up to four analogue cameras or network encoder, allowing for quick and easy installation without complex set-up. The open protocol nature of this feature also allows for integration of other 3rd party devices. It operates as stand alone and removes the need for a PC or computer to record the video data thus is an extremely reliable system solution.
The advanced 'triplex' feature permits simultaneous viewing of recording channels and playback channels along with straightforward viewing of any other connected source. These new features are complemented by the comprehensive recording and management tools afforded by the embedded Milestone Systems XProtect application providing the user with a unique and flexible product.
"JVC are delighted to be offering a network video recorder that works with the bundled Milestone software creating the 'best of breed' product for use in an Internet-based environment," states Hiroyuki Takekura, Board of Directors of Victor Company of Japan Limited & Head of Professional Systems Business Group.
The product is the latest development since JVC announced their relationship with Milestone Systems and Verint. "Our relationship with Milestone Systems means that we are now able to offer many integration options for small to large installations as well as multiple sites, bridging the gap between analogue and IP."
Designed for efficient and simple installation, the VR-N900U records in high-quality MJPEG or MPEG-4 over LAN / WAN or the Internet at maximum 120 fps when recording at VGA resolution of 640 x 480, or up to 30 fps when using the higher SXGA resolution of 1280x1024. Images are stored on the built-in 250GB hard disk drive. Any 9 cameras from an unlimited number of cameras on the network can be recorded at any one time, which includes the ability to record from any of the 4 analogue inputs. In addition, the Remote Client feature of the Milestone XProtect software provides access for up to 10 users to view the images from the VR-N900U simultaneously.
Operating as a network storage and core video management unit, performance features include an easy installation wizard, ergonomic front-panel control, dual-LAN port situated on the back and front of the unit, selected joystick controller, USB2.0 compatible serial interface, PTZ control of cameras from the web browser, motion detection, quick search options and audio support.
