GKB Verifire enhances environmental protection

Taichung, Taiwan

For the petrochemical industry, petrochemical plants are often exposed semi-outdoor places. It's essential to have smoke detection for open-wide areas and towering spaces; for if black smoke is detected, it indicates an abnormal situation and could result in a potentially major issue.  A Taiwan petrochemical plant is using GKB's  Verifire camera solution, implementing IVS technology to detect signs of smoke, making it almost an extention of human eyes with proactively-analysed images.

The GKB Verifire NC3860VD is an advanced IVS IP camera that is equipped with a 5-100mm varifocal lens and is able to monitor the distance to the chimneys situated up to one kilometre away.  Verifire is name for GKB's proprietary smoke-detection technology and solution.

At the location, there are a total of 8 GKB Verifire cameras and one NVR unit installed to detect and verify smoke in open-wide environments. They have been positioned on the roof outside in the field. When the smoke is detected, it will be indicated as a rectangle and the system will send a notification to let managers know there is a condition, and the relevant staff at the plant will check the smoke colour to avoid any penalty.   The Verifire App can also offer such functions of alarm sounder set-off, smoke location indication and sending picture messages via smartphones to preset groups or related personnel.

GKB also offers a Verifire API interface to support system customisation by 3rd party specialist developers.
